Specific needs
- A tank suited to the species and to the number of fish
- An established nitrogen cycle (biological filtration)
- Stable water parameters (a suitable temperature and pH)
Feeding
- Food suited to the species, in small amounts
- Avoid overfeeding (it pollutes the water)
- Variety according to their needs (herbivore or carnivore)
Habitat & environment
- Regular filtration and maintenance, with partial water changes
- Suitable decor and hiding places
- Heating and lighting according to the species
Prevention
- Regular water testing (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate)
- Quarantining new fish
