Aquarium fish

Aquarium fish depend entirely on the quality of their water. A properly sized, properly cycled tank is the foundation of their health.

HomeSpecies we treatAquarium fish

Specific needs

  • A tank suited to the species and to the number of fish
  • An established nitrogen cycle (biological filtration)
  • Stable water parameters (a suitable temperature and pH)

Feeding

  • Food suited to the species, in small amounts
  • Avoid overfeeding (it pollutes the water)
  • Variety according to their needs (herbivore or carnivore)

Habitat & environment

  • Regular filtration and maintenance, with partial water changes
  • Suitable decor and hiding places
  • Heating and lighting according to the species

Prevention

  • Regular water testing (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate)
  • Quarantining new fish
  • Avoiding overstocking

Vaccination

There is no vaccination in the hobby aquarium; prevention rests entirely on water quality and quarantine.

  • White spots, ragged fins, a film over the body

Frequently asked questions

Why do my fish die soon after I buy them?
Often it is an uncycled or overcrowded tank: the filtration must be established before the fish are introduced.
How often should I change the water?
Regular partial changes (often weekly), depending on the volume and the stocking level.
