Vaccination
There is no routine vaccination for degus. Prevention rests above all on a low-sugar diet and careful observation.
Warning signs — see a vet if you notice:
- Cloudy eyes (diabetes-related cataracts)
- Increased thirst and urination
- Weight loss, reduced appetite
When to see a vet?
- See the vet if there are signs of diabetes (cloudy eyes, increased thirst)
- Seek prompt advice if the animal weakens or stops eating
